Lemony Zucchini Muffins with Greek Yogurt
My daughter loves lemony baked goods and this time of year and I have zucchini coming out of my ears, so here is my recipe for Lemony Zucchini Muffins with Greek Yogurt. They are prefect for a quick breakfast or as a snack in school lunches. My 3 year old nephew will pretty much eat the entire batch himself and calls it "Special Bread"...
Preheat oven to 375 degrees and prep 12 cup muffin tin with papers or non-stick spray.
In one bowl combine:
2 cups All purpose Flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Zest from 2-3 lemons
In another bowl combine:
2 cups of shredded zucchini
1 egg slightly beaten
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup plain non fat greek yogurt
1 tsp. lemon extract (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)
Combine the wet and dry mixtures just until incorporated. Do not over mix.
Spoon into prepped muffin cup and bake for 20-24 minutes
Cool on rack, store in air tight container and enjoy.

Any-who...I was walking around the store and thought my sister was next to me, so I turned to her and was about to make a comment on some adorable fabric when I came face to face with Sara ( that's what I call her now). I panicked trying to not call attention to her famousness and blurted out "O, you're not my friend..." at which point she responded "No, but we could be friends, I can tell just by looking at you". Here is where I laughed awkwardly and walked to find my sister with the fabric in hand and pretended I was showing it to her, but I was really just telling her about what happened. When I got home my husband told me I should have said "We can be friends, but don't expect me to write you a love song."

The Old Yarn Girls Try Out The Flea Market
SO the Old Yarn Girls tried out our first Flea Market in Ventura California this weekend. We were up at 3 a.m. with the cars packed and loaded and set off in the dark. It was freezing cold and the wind was whipping. But, by the time the sun rose and the Flea Market opened at 7a.m. we were set up and feeling good. 
We definatly learned some things, such as a canopy cover is great for drizzily rain or blistering sun, but not so great for gusty gale force winds. At one point I think we almost blew away. We had to make some alterations to our outdoor shop as the day went on, but sometimes you just have to move where the wind takes you. 
We talked to people, sold some things, shopped for ourselves and had a good time being together. A special thank you to Brian, Jamel and Bella who helped out that day, you were our anchors, literally! And we can't forget to mention all of the dads that cooked us dinner and were the key baby wranglers for the day! The Old Yarn Girls could not have done it without you!

Teensy Toy Shadow Box
A friend of ours always has a purse full of what she likes to call "Teensy Toys" for all the kids to come and get from her whenever she is around. She has them everywhere, as well as a collections of strange and weird-hard-to-find toys, like mini Pee Wee Herman figures from the show, wallets shaped like sandwiches, Sylvanian Families and other such oddities. She had so many of these things that she started making shadow boxes for the kids to hang in their rooms. The one pictured here is one that my daughter filled with small random things from her room that had no place to go but still wanted to hold onto for one reason or another.
It is a simple and a great way to get the odds and ends out of the way that your children just can't seem to part with. Ours isn't completely filled just yet, but you will get the idea.
1. We purchased a cheap shadow box from Ikea and spray painted it ourselves to match Bella's room.
2. I measured and cut out a piece of scrapbook paper to line the back.
3. Then she fill with all of tiny junk I was sick of see laying around and stepping on every time I walked into her room. It is also a great place to put all of the little weird souvenirs that children always see to want or receive from grandparents on vacations and the busy crafts they make but have no real home.

Who Are You Supposed to Be?
The Dress: I just pinned the front and the back of the orange cheap fabric onto my daughters body and then machine stitched along the pins. I made sure there was a ragged cut edge along the bottom and a slit in the top by the head in the back so she could get it on. The buttons are just paper plates and a napkin sewn on with yarn and then yarn haphazardly sew around the top hem and collar.
The Hair: I pinned 2 pieces of purple felt into her head, cut 6 curved tabs from a separate piece and inserted them into the proper placed pointing toward the inside, then machine stitched along the curved line the pins created as a guide, trimmed the excess felt, turned it the right way, then cut the curve for the part in the bangs. The butterflies were made out of Model Magic by Crayola and need to be made the day before so they can dry over night. I used a straw to form 2 buttons holes in each and then attached them with yarn. Her hair is in 2 french braids then pinned up underneath.
